Antiviral Essential Oils to Feel Better

Feeling sick? Need some antiviral essential oils? I have the perfect recipe for you that will have you feeling better in no time.

I have used the following recipe with family members at the first sign of a cold, flu or sore throat. They always feel better.

One of the best books that explains how essential oils are antiviral (also antibacterial and antifungal for that matter!) and written by chemist, Ken Schnaubelt, is Advanced Aromatherapy: The Science of Essential Oil Therapy I highly recommend this book if you want to find out the science behind why antiviral essential oils work.

In the book he performed an experiment showing some of the essential oils that were able to kill a large percentage of viruses and bacteria in a petri dish.

The best essential oils according to his test results were:

• oregano essential oil
• thyme essential oil
• cinnamon essential oil

These oils are also very hot oils (they contain phenols) to put directly on the skin, so dilution is recommended. I perform a technique called the Raindrop Technique which after discussion and testing of the essential oils, oregano and thyme are able to be used neat on the soles of the feet and back in most cases.

Here is my favourite recipe when someone in the house is feeling off colour.

I place one to two drops of Thieves* essential oil on the chest and then either me or my family member drink 1 drop of lemon therapeutic grade essential oil.

I also diffuse Thieves until all symptoms have disappeared. Within a few hours all symptoms are gone. This happens every time.

Another essential oil I have used if I have a cough is myrtle essential oil. Again only one drop is all I use and it works a treat!
