Christmas is beautiful… and busy.
It brings magic, connection and tradition, but it can also bring pressure, emotional heaviness, family dynamics and that familiar end-of-year rush. Over the years I’ve learned that the season becomes richer and more peaceful when I anchor myself with simple rituals, comforting aromas and little pockets of intentional stillness.
This year, I am focusing on creating a Christmas that feels calm, grounded and full of heart. Essential oils are a huge part of that rhythm in my home, and I wanted to share the practices I’m using right now to support emotional balance and bring more joy to the season.

Before the day gets busy, I take a few minutes to set the tone.
This tiny check-in can shift everything. You can even choose a “Christmas intention oil” each morning: |

The energy of your home shapes how you feel. During December I keep my diffuser going more often and rotate blends that make the space feel warm and welcoming.
A few favourites:
Cosy Christmas Evening
Holiday Heart Opener
Festive Fresh & Clean
These blends help reset the mood in the house, especially after busy shopping days or social family gatherings.
Christmas can bring up emotions… unexpected ones too. It is a time where memories come up, pressure builds, and we often feel stretched in many directions.
Here are some supportive ways to use your oils emotionally:

If you feel overwhelmed:
Place a drop of Lavender over the heart and breathe deeply. Add grounding oils to your wrists to soften the nervous system.
If you feel disconnected or flat:
Use a bright citrus in the diffuser. Citrus oils lift the energy instantly and help rebuild emotional warmth.
If you need to reconnect to gratitude:
Apply a drop of an uplifting oil to the palms before journaling or writing Christmas cards. Let the aroma guide your emotional state.
If you want to stay grounded in love:
Massage your feet with a calming oil before bed. This is one of my December secrets. It creates deeper sleep and a calmer nervous system in the morning.

This season is full of busy days, rich foods, heat (for us in Australia), and late nights. I love creating simple self-care body rituals that support both skin and emotions:
Festive Body Lotion Ritual
Mix your favourite unscented lotion with a drop of Frankincense and a drop of Sandalwood. This brings both emotional grounding and incredible skin support.
Soothing Christmas Bath
Add Lavender and Cedarwood to Epsom salts. Let everything soften.
After-Shower Glow Oil
Use a nourishing plant oil with an uplifting blend. It sets your whole day up with a beautiful scent and a calm energy.

My diffuser always goes on at night in December.
A gentle blend like Lavender with a purifying oil cleanses the air, relaxes your mind and helps you sleep more deeply.
Then I end the day with a simple moment:
A drop of a heart oil over the chest, and a slow breath to close the day.
These little moments matter. They accumulate. They bring softness. They keep December from rushing past in a blur.
If you feel called to have an intentional, heart-centred December this year, I have something special for you.
